I frequently drive through old-order Mennonite country in the Linwood area of southern Ontario.
Here one sees horses being used as a means of transport for humans and goods and to till the agricultural land.
As an agricultural veterinarian of many years, I can vouch that the horse is a very efficient source of energy used on my father’s and grandfather’s farm.
One needs only to put oats and Timothy hay in one end, which produces vast amounts of energy, and what comes out the other end is used along with sunlight to produce more energy.
For street racers, this could produce lots of low-risk entertainment. For the rest of us it is cheap, reliable, renewable source of energy which would replace the horsepower of the internal combustion engine.
Think of all the jobs that could be created cleaning up our streets. Why, even BS could be replace by HS.
