Windmills should be in rural setting
Date: Apr 25, 2008
We all accept that wind energy can make a contribution to our energy resources but the question is where to put them.
I believe they belong in rural areas and not in major cities like Barrie. Their huge height and appearance is an affront to all municipal aesthetic planning.
There is one in Toronto at the CNE grounds and it is ugly and hardly ever produces electricity.
They are not the panacea that some espouse, since they only produce electricity for a tiny percentage of time, and often when it is not needed. Let’s not have another Northern Ethanol debacle.
Keep them in the rural areas.
