Mechanical problems have resulted in a temporary shutdown of the Barrie Landfill site.

Works Department officials issued a statement Wednesday afternoon saying the culprit was a problem with the weigh scale at the Ferndale Road facility.

A repair crew is currently working on the faulty weigh bar, and the department says the site should return to normal operations sometime Thursday.
