Programs for writers
The Canadian Authors Assoication and the Leacock Museum are hosting a free information presentation on the craft of writing, applying for funding from the Ontario Arts Council (OAC). Christina Akrong, associate arts education officer with the OAC will answer questions and lead you through the grant process. The Singles Alliance
The Singles Alliance, an inter-church Christian singles ministry that promotes friendship and fellowship among singles, presents Karaoke Dominican at Bethel Community Church, 128 St. Vincent St. on Oct. 24, starting at 7 p.m. Includes music, La Tienda Party and Crocs for Kids presentation. The Creemore Legion welcomes Mantracker, Terry Grant, on Oct. 24 for a free autograph session between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.. Come out and have your photo taken with the OLN star. Cancer society fundraiser
The LGBTA of Barrie and Oscar’s Restaurant will hold a fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society on Oct. 24 starting at 10 p.m.. Tickets are $20 with partial proceeds going to the society. Event features food, music, giveaways and door prizes.
Transition Barrie
Transistion Barrie is hosting an interactive forum on Oct. 24 between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. in the Huronia Room at Barrie City Hall. The group is a citizen-led initiative that explores how Barrie can adapt to climate change, energy decline and economic crisis, and become a better community. Forum will look at the need to make the transition from cheap-oil economy to low-carbon, more local society. For more information, click here.

Collier St. United Church is hosting a fall dinner on Saturday Oct. 24 at 6 p.m. Tickets ($15 for adults and $6 for children under 12) are available in advance at the Collier Street front desk or at the door.
I Feel A Song Coming On
