Canadian actor Adam Brazier will make his directorial debut in Talk is Free Theatre's latest production, Myths and Hymns.

Myths and Hymns intertwines Greek mythology stories with lyrics from an 1886 Presbyterian hymnal. The show includes a modern day song journey from classicism to R&B.

"It's been a lot of researching the hymns and the myths," Brazier said. "Because this is a song cycle, there is no beginning, middle or end. My job as a director is to create that. It's been a process of organizing the songs into the order that says what I feel the composer wants said."

Brazier said Myths and Hymns is a great way to get into the world of directing, especially since the show is in concert, meaning actors will perform with their music in front of them.

"It's great to start with because I am not having to take on set changes and lighting designs, all of those things that come with experience," he said.

TIFT's Myths and Hymns stars Evan Buling (Mirvish Productions) with Eddie Glen (Canadian Stage Company), Eliza Jane Scott (Mirvish Productions) Carly Street (Lord of The Rings) and newcomer Jeigh Madjus.

"We found this guy, Jeigh Madjus, who has this unbelievable voice. I am really excited to be able to give him this opportunity to showcase this incredible instrument that he has. It's going to be great to have these four actors who have been in the business forever work with this kid."

TIFT's Myths and Hymns makes its premiere at the Bathurst Street Theatre March 23 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25 and $35, and available by phone only. The show will be on stage at the Georgian College theatre March 25 and 26 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $32. Group rates are available.

Tickets can be purchased at 792-1949 or by visiting www.tift.ca .
