Ron Kyle is on yet another adventure.
This summer, he went to Myanmar to help co-ordinate a cyclone relief program with Canada Food for the Hungry. Now, he’s heading to Ecuador to work on a fire project.
The Barrie resident works as a Toronto firefighter and helps with logistics in getting emergency food or supplies to foreign countries.
“I have sent two fire trucks and one container of fire/medical items to Ecuador already,” said Kyle.
Canada Food For the Hungry has sent $45,000 to Myanmar so far to help with its rebuilding and long-term development. Some of those donations came from local residents.
“We have another $100 for future development as time goes on. It has been wonderful to be involved in the decisions of that funding.”
Kyle has another project in the works, this time in Ethopia. He met with an ambassador recently to talk about donating fire, medical and educational supplies.
“The Barrie Rotary Club wants to be involved as they have a project in that country. I’m planning to travel to Ethiopia, Sudan, Burundi, and Rwanda in April to conduct assessments with Canada Food for the Hungry.”
