Barrie police have arrested two people after finding marijuana at a home on Ferndale Avenue South.

A 911 call was made after someone said there was a man with a gun at the home attacking another man. When police arrived, a number of people were fighting. Officers separated everyone and searched the home.

No gun was found, but a small marijuana grow op was.

A 21-year-old woman was charged with possession of controlled drugs. A 24-year-old man was charged with assault with a weapon, assault, uttering death threats, mischief and breach of probation.

Hydro one
A man was arrested under the Mental Health Act after Barrie police showed up to a Tiffin Street home on Thursday morning.

Police said a man was ripping a hydro box off someone’s home, and then the homeowner was attacked with a screwdriver and a rock. Power was cut off to the house, but no one was injured in the situation.

A 39-year-old man was taken to Royal Victoria Hospital and held for a psychiatric assessment. Charges are pending.

Wanted man found
Barrie police was able to track down a wanted man at a Blake Street motel Thursday. Police said he was wanted for not following a judge’s order and he was charged with breach of undertaking.

Send in the dogs
Barrie police found two men inside a Hopper Road business area after the K9 Unit tracked them down. Officers went to the business after locks were cut to the area, and an alarm went off. A trailer was also damaged by the time police arrived.

Two men, ages 36 and 37, are both facing charges of break and enter and three counts of mischief.

One of the men was also charged with failing to comply with a judge’s order. One of the men was already wanted for a previous theft.

Teens looking at cars

Barrie police had to send a few teens home to their parents after they were seen looking at cars in the William and Holgate streets area. Residents were concerned because of earlier thefts in the area, and called police. No harm was done and the teens were free to go.
