Barrie police is trying to find the person who threw a firecracker into a Jeep parked on Kempenfelt Drive.
Police said the Jeep caught fire early Saturday morning and firefighters were called to put it out. It was damaged beyond repair. Witnesses saw a green Chevrolet Lumina, possibly with tinted windows, in the area at the time.
Two young men were inside and anyone with information about the crime should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Gas leak
Courtney Crescent residents were asked to leave their homes Saturday night after a gas leak. Police said a contractor was digging postholes and hit the gas line.
No one was hurt and residents were evacuated as a precaution. Nearby streets were closed for more than three hours.
Stop calling
Barrie police charged a man with criminal harassment after his ex-girlfriend complained about him calling.
Police said the relationship ended a year ago, but she kept getting calls, and he started driving by her home. Officers had already warned the man about his behaviour, so they arrested him Sunday.
Upon arrest, a small amount of marijuana was also found. The 25-year-old was held for a bail hearing.
False alarm
Police helped evacuate residents of Barrie Manor after a carbon-monoxide detector went off. Police said the alarm sounded just after 8 p.m. Sunday, and officers helped evacuate everyone as a precaution. When firefighters showed up, they determined it was a false alarm and everyone went back inside.
One case open
Barrie police made a trip to the Beer Store on Mapleview Drive Sunday night after a break-in.
Officers said a window was smashed after 9:30 p.m. and the suspect reached in and grabbed a case of beer.
Messy arrival
A Barrie man was charged early Monday morning after he was dropped off at the police station.
Police said a Barrie Taxi driver took the man there after he started throwing up in his cab. Officers tried to talk to the man, but he was belligerent. He was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place, and with possession of marijuana.
Boat patrol
Barrie police brought a boat back to shore after getting a distress call Sunday. Police said the boat was in Kempenfelt Bay, eight kilometers east of the Tiffin boat launch.
Three people on board were fine and the boat was rescued.
Water leak
A burst garden hose gained a neighbour’s attention on Saturday after water was seen coming from a garage on Cardinal Street. Barrie police were called and found no one home. Officers got into the garage and shut the valve off.
Deer killed
Barrie police euthanized an injured deer after a collision near Sunnidale Park. Officers were called at 7:30 a.m. Saturday and found the deer at the side of Cundles Road East with a broken leg. It appeared to have been hit by a vehicle.
Woman crying
Barrie police arrested a man after a domestic dispute brought officers to a Ross Street home. Police could hear a woman crying inside the apartment, but no one would open the door. Police forced their way inside and found a man and a woman.
The woman didn’t want to lay any assault charges, but the man was already wanted on outstanding warrants. He was arrested and held for a bail hearing.
Thursday night RIDE
Barrie police were busy during a routine RIDE program. A total of 385 vehicles went through, with one man being charged with impaired driving and more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
Officers did six roadside breath tests, gave two 12-hour suspensions and wrote three Highway Traffic Act tickets.
Fraud charges
Barrie police charged a woman after she brought a cheque to a downtown business. Police said the woman tried to cash $5,000 at a cheque-cashing business, but the employee knew the company on the cheque didn’t exist. The account also wasn’t valid, so police arrested the woman at the scene.
Flames put out
Barrie OPP found a stolen vehicle in Oro-Medonte after it caught on fire Thursday afternoon. Police said the 2005 Chevrolet Equinox was a write-off by the time the Oro-Medone Fire Department showed up on Line 13, south of Highway 11.
