The Alzheimer Society of Greater Simcoe County is holding its annual general meeting and symposium on Thurs., June 26.

The event takes place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Rowntree Theatre, at Georgian College in Barrie.

Organizers note the annual general meeting is expected to take place from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m., followed by the symposium.

The symposium theme this year is Margaret and Me: Where There's Humour, There's Always Hope, featuring William J. Thomas, a Canadian author, scriptwriter and humourist.

Society officials note that Thomas will relate his experiences of living with and caring for his mother, Margaret, as they coped with her dementia.

Tickets to the annual general meeting and symposium are $15 for family caregivers and the public and $20 for professional caregivers.

For more information, call 722-1066.
