Barrie Out of the Cold representatives, Karen Sanderson (far left), and Tom Oldershaw (far right), presented Rosalyn Rowe (second from right), co-ordinator of RVH’s Laundry and Linen & Environmental Services, with a plaque for the staff’s contribution to Barrie’s Out of the Cold Program.

The staff of Royal Victoria Hospital’s Laundry Department were recently honoured for the role they play in keeping Barrie’s homeless warm.

For eight years the Laundry Department has been providing the program with a free laundry service, cleaning more 8,400 blankets or 33,600 pounds of laundry and a savings of almost $9,000 for the Out of the Cold Program every year.

The 16 RVH Laundry Staff have really taken the Out of the Cold Program to heart and among themselves purchased 270 pairs of socks to be given to guests who will use the service come next winter.
