Six-year-old Carter Roulston will set up shop this weekend for his annual lemonade stand fundraiser benefiting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
The lemonade stand will be open Saturday between 1 and 3 p.m. with proceeds going to team Carter’s Chase, who will be taking part in the Telus Walk to Cure Diabetes.
“We have to raise money for diabetes,” said Carter. “We have to get rid of it.”
Carter and his team will be selling baked goods, lemonade and temporary tattoos.
There will be a jellybean guessing contest and raffle prizes.
Zehrs has donated the lemonade for the third-annual sale.
Carter was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when he was three years old.
Since then Carter, and his family, has learned to deal with low and high blood sugar levels and learned to manage his disease.
Carter’s older brother Cameron came up with the idea for the lemonade stand three years ago and it has become an annual tradition for the team.
Since it started, the stand has raised $850 for the Walk to Cure Diabetes.
Carter’s Lemonade Stand will be open for business between 1 and 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 10 at 36 Edwards Dr., just off Big Bay Point Road and Hurst Drive.
