I take exception to the article written by Katherine Elphick.
It states that a couple of local doctors performed CPR on Brian Westgarth-Taylor at a Colts game, which helped to save his life.
The truth is that he collapsed on the way into the game and nearby St. John Ambulance personnel immediately attended to the situation. One assessed the situation while the other assured his wife that all would be okay.
Realizing that the gentleman had no vital signs, the St. John volunteer began CPR. A doctor stopped to see if he could help and after a little coaching was able to assist in the administration of CPR on the casualty.
When the paramedics arrived, Brian was handed over to them and it was learned later that he had made a full recovery at the hospital.
The St. John person and Brian were introduced approximately three years later at an interview at the A Channel facilities. There were many tears all around.
I know these things because the St. John volunteer is my wife and I am very proud of her. She is now a first-aid instructor as well as an instructor in the use of AEDs for St. John Ambulance.
