What a wonderful opportunity for this council to leave as their legacy their commitment to a Performing Arts Centre.

What better place to build our cultural jewel than the city-owned site previously designated for a high-rise condo/convention centre? The downtown will truly have its best opportunity to prosper again if the decision is made to choose the site at the foot of Bayfield opposite Memorial Square.

The Performing Arts Centre will, as Bruce Owen so eloquently stated, allow Barrie to showcase homegrown talent and big-name artists. Barrie residents won't have to endure the 400 to enjoy productions like We Will Rock You or Hairspray.

Local and district school students can be introduced to the wonders of live theatre. Georgian College can develop a full theatre arts program.

Let's get Barrie's Performing Arts Centre on stream and built in Barrie's most desirable location and we will have a win-win situation for businesses and residents alike.
