Bring on trains and wind

I understand that many people may be annoyed by the sound of the train whistle or that the noise from the wind turbine could be disturbing.

I lived within 50 feet of a track crossing in another city when I was first starting to work shift at a local hospital. The whole house rocked while the train passed by and the whistle was just outside my bedroom.

However, I have no bad memory of that time and have always found the sound of the train comforting. Especially now as gas prices go up, frequent closures on the 400, and with increased traffic on transportation routes have not kept up with urban growth that all add to the daily stress of travel.

The train is good, it is green, and there should be more trains all week, and the sound of that whistle compared to 400 traffic is heaven.

The same goes for the wind turbine proposed for a Barrie business that now has an outcry against the potential noise. It is green renewable source of electricity versus the radioactive waste that has to be stored somewhere for a very long time with hopefully no accident of any kind to that facility.

The sound of the wind blowing is soothing and the look of the turbine is a sleek tower of power reminding me that we care about the earth and the amount of energy we use.

I say, bring on the noise of clean energy and the sound of less polluting traffic on the 400.
