I just returned from Barrie Believes Talent Show presented by two Barrie schools, Algonquin Ridge Elementary School and Warnica Public School hosted at Barrie Central Collegiate.
This fundraising show was put on by the students and staff from those schools to benefit the Tour For Kids bike tour happening in August raising money for the children’s cancer camps in Ontario, to help send children with cancer and their siblings to camp. Childhood cancers don’t just affect the child diagnosed but the whole family.
The show was amazing! Each and every one of the performers should be proud of themselves, they displayed the courage our cancer kids face every day getting up in from of the crowded auditorium.
The most important concept of the talent show was unique, kids helping kids. The show was headlined by Tantrum, a group of talented Barrie teens who play as an AC/DC tribute band. One of the band members is currently on treatment for a childhood cancer.
The band hadn’t played since they opened for The Barenaked Ladies during last year’s Tour For Kids tour. Adam, in my opinion, stole the show with solid guitar riffs and a very active stage presence.
On behalf of the many organizations and groups I represent I want to express my sincerest thank you to all of the students, schools staff and parents who volunteered to make this special night ... SPECIAL!!!
Also, a huge thanks to the Rotary Club of Barrie in buying tickets for local families of children with cancer so they could enjoy the evening.
