A&M closing a sad time

It is a very sad time in Barrie these days as we all realize that the A&M Store located at Minet's Point and Yonge Street is in the process of closing its doors.

There is one thing that I have always appreciated in shopping there is that the owners, the Zabas, have supported more charitable organizations and not-for-profit groups than anyone one of us can remember. Their prices were always competitive.

Most of the staff have been there for a number of years and no amount of severance will ever replace their feeling that they were part of the family.

Sadly the "big box stores" have managed to eliminate another family-owned business which tried really hard to compete with them.

If there is anyone looking for staff experienced in, produce, dairy, grocery, meat, stocking shelves, cashiers, etc., do not hesitate to contact these "about to be" unemployed persons.

I personally wish to thank Al Zaba, his family and staff for their years of dedicated service to the Barrie community.
