Youth Haven, a non-profit Christian organization that provides shelter for homeless people aged 16-21, will be holding its Annual Silent Auction from Dec. 4 to 10 at Bayfield Mall.

Throughout the week, shoppers will have the opportunity to bid on unique Christmas gifts such as authentic autographed Boston Bruins jerseys, lunch with figure skating Olympic medalist Jeff Buttle, a digital camera, a lap quilt, a tour of Queen's Park and lunch in the legislative dining room with MPP Joe Tascona, as well as home furnishings, passes to local tourist attractions and gift certificates - all thanks to the generosity of local businesses and celebrities. The event concludes with a chance for shoppers to outbid each other on the most coveted items at a live auction at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10.

Youth Haven is the only youth shelter in Simcoe County, and provides emergency and transitional housing in a home-type environment.

Parent night - St. Peter's Secondary School, 201 Ashford Dr. in south Barrie, will be hosting a Grade 8 Parent Night on Dec. 13 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. for all students interested in attending the school beginning in September.

In case of inclement weather, the event will be postponed to Thursday, Dec. 14 - same time.
