The Jr. C Alliston Hornets started off the 2007-08 season on a high note and the team is still singing soprano two games in. After winning the Jr. C mini tournament last weekend and edging the Erin Shamrocks 1-0 in exhibition play (above), the Alliston team went on to win its first two regular season games last week, hammering Schomberg 11-3 on Thursday night and pounding Midland 9-2 Friday in road games. The Hornets face off this Friday night with another contest against the Schomberg Cougars. With last week’s results, it could be a real crowd pleaser.

The Alliston Hornets have flown out of the gate and are off to a great start to the season.

The Hornets started the regular season with an 11-3 win over  Schomberg Thursday night.

Left-winger Robbie Rutledge started the scoring with a power play goal in the first period.

The floodgates were thrown open in the second period, with Alliston scoring six goals, and Schomberg answering with two.

Brett Eeles ended the night with four goals, and Rutledge earned the first star with five points.

The Hornets offence continued Friday in a 9-2 win over Midland.

Eeles picked up where he left off in the first game, netting his second hat-trick of the season.

The two victories leave the Hornets on top of the Junior C Georgian Bay Mid-Ontario Hockey League.

The Hornets’ home opener against Schomberg is Friday night (Sept. 28) at 7:30 p.m., at the new multi-use recreation facility on Industrial Parkway in Alliston.
