This Victoria Day long weekend marks the kickoff to summer.

Celebrate at the Barrie Waterfront Festival that takes over downtown Barrie from Saturday to Monday. This fourth-annual festival features live entertainment on two main stages, vendors, a midway and street buskers.

This event also includes the Dunlop Street Festival, where downtown merchants take over the street with sales, while restaurants and bars spill out onto the road with street patios.

There will not be a fireworks display along the waterfront this weekend.

Banks, financial institutions, and government buildings will all be closed on Monday.

Most retail outlets will also be closed for the holiday and garbage collection will follow a holiday schedule and be pushed back one day.
