Barrie Advance
Old bank building becoming eyesore

The City of Barrie purchased the old Bank of Nova Scotia building several months ago.

When the city buys a building, to put on hold, with no immediate plans in mind, and particularly on such a high visibility corner as Dunlop and Bayfield Streets, the onus should be on the city to maintain that building to an acceptable standard.

The structure is taking on the derelict look of all abandoned buildings.

At a time when we're anticipating an increase in local and tourist traffic for the various summer events, it would behoove the city to take care of this blight in the downtown core.
