Royal Victoria Hospital’s I Believe Campaign was boosted with a $250,000 donation from Honda Canada to help fund the Phase 1 expansion project, which includes the Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre.

“On behalf of Honda of Canada Mfg., I am extremely proud that we are contributing to a project that will provide quality health care to many of our associates and their families,” said Joe Sperduti, vice president, administration. “We hope our contribution is helpful in furthering this important project.

RVH president and CEO Janice Skot said it’s an exciting year for the Barrie hospital as it prepares for the expansion.

“Honda’s continuing support and this remarkable donation means that we are one step nearer our goal of bringing care closer to home for patients across our region,” said Skot.

Construction for the expansion project is set to begin later this year. The cancer centre is scheduled to open in 2011/12.

The I Believe campaign has raised $31.5 million of its $35 million goal through donations from individuals, businesses and organizations in Simcoe County and the District of Muskoka.
