Barrie Food Bank Volunteers Rira Scharf and Lorelei Manthorpe have prepared bouquets to be given as a special Mother’s Day treat to moms who use the food bank.

The Barrie Food Bank is celebrating Mothers Day by honouring some local moms.

Mothers who use the food bank’s services will be given flower bouquets for their special day.

“The moms who come here will be receiving some beautiful flowers with their usual food orders,” said Dennis Willer, executive director of the Barrie Food Bank. “They will all come with a tribute letter, letting the mothers know how important they are.”

This is the first time for such a project, which was completely organized by volunteers Rira Scharf and Lorelei Manthorpe.

“These volunteers got these flowers at their own expense,” said Willer. “They give their time, their money and their thoughtfulness.”

Willer said the volunteers and their project are an inspiration.
